Counseling & Family Approach
What is the Whole Person Approach?
At Discovery Coaching and Counseling Center, we begin with a foundational belief: every person is created in the image of God. This discovered truth serves as the cornerstone for the effective behavioral, emotional, and cognitive transformation you need.
You Are Valuable
In our culture, personal worth and value can feel elusive. While society often emphasizes that everyone is valuable, the reasons can feel inadequate. Voices from our experiences—trauma, relationships, career challenges, or family—may tell us a different story. Here, we anchor your value and contextualize your experiences in God who created you with intention, purpose, and worth.
You Are an Individual
Every person is unique, created in the image of God, and shaped by their individual story. Your life’s experiences—both the joys and the struggles—contribute to your individuality. The Whole Person Approach helps you discover your uniqueness within the context of your journey, connecting you to the One who created and loves you.
You Are Relational
Relationships are at the core of our human experience. They shape us, challenge us, and define much of our joy and pain. For most, the greatest struggles come from strained or broken relationships. Our need for good relationships comes from our Creator who is also relational. The Whole Person Approach will help you understand and work through your relationships in light of God’s love and purpose.
You Are Thinking and Thoughtful
Jesus taught that true freedom comes from knowing the truth. Healing, understanding, and transformation all begin with seeking the truth. While the freedom truth provides may not always be immediately discovered, with time and guidance, the Whole Person Approach offers a path to the lasting healing and change you need.
You Are Moral
Right and wrong serve as the guiding principles for our lives and relationships. Hurt and brokenness often result from the wrongs we experience—whether inflicted by others or in some cases, ourselves. Healing requires recognizing and
addressing these wrongs and their impact on our thinking and experiences. The Whole Person Approach will provide a moral framework for transformation in your thinking and behaviors.
You Are Spiritual
Though modern institutions often promote atheism or a purely material worldview, these beliefs represent a small minority. Across history and cultures, a vast majority of people have believed in God, gods, or an afterlife. The Bible
explains this with the idea that God has placed “eternity in our hearts.” This deeply spiritual dimension is core to our humanity and key to healing and transformation. The Whole Person Approach engages your spiritual dimension, rooted in the framework of biblical Christianity.
